How Our Network Works
Know what to ask before you hire
Who You Talk To
Myth: when you reach out, you get a company with its own trucks and crew. Reality: Applewood Plumbing is a referral service. You are connected with an independent local provider. That provider is a separate business that sets its own prices, schedule and methods.
What Happens After You Reach Out
You describe the problem. Where is the water or smell? Is it one fixture or the whole house? Then you are connected with a provider who serves your area. The provider may ask a few more questions, give a rough idea of what is involved and tell you when they might be able to come. Availability varies by provider, so ask directly.
If you would like to speak with someone now, request a callback to check provider availability.
What to Ask an Independent Provider
First-time homeowners often do not know what to ask. Here is a short list you can use word for word:
- Are you licensed and insured for this kind of work here?
- Can I get a written quote before you start?
- What could change the price once you see the problem?
- How long will the work take, and which rooms will it affect?
- Will you need water or power shut off, and for how long?
- Do you offer a warranty on parts and labor?
- Can you take photos or notes that help with an insurance claim?
A good provider will not mind these questions. If answers are vague, that tells you something.
Plan Around Life
Tell the provider about your day. School pickups, work calls and nap times all matter. Ask whether the work can be split into steps, or whether noisy parts can happen when the house is quiet. You may not get everything, but asking costs nothing.
You Are in Control
A referral is not a contract. You can talk to a provider, ask for an estimate and decide to wait. You can speak with more than one. Nobody should pressure you to sign on the spot. Costs vary a lot by job, so always get the price in writing.
